I grew up in Akron, OH as an only child raised by my mom and grandma. My immediate family with smaller and scattered between a couple different states, but I always appreciated the concept of family and community.
In my my mind your family should be putting you up on game and helping prepare you to be successful in this world. At family get togethers, not only should we be having a great time together, but we should be sharing knowledge, resources, and information.
What if every family member had a different speciality and then brought their expertise back and shared it with the family. Big cousins should be schooling their younger cousins on ways to generate more income, credit hacks, savings tips, etc.
I was explaining my thoughts about this on IG live one day and I was like… “I could be your cousin. I could show up to your family barbecue and fit right in.
I’m your #CousinNita!“
That day I gained thousands of “cousins” and I started to take sharing educating and supporting more serious. As the cousin who specializes in Real Estate… my family biological and otherwise are counting on me to keep learning, growing ,and progressing so I can pass the game to them.
We’re all family and it doesn’t hurt me at all to share knowledge and experiences with my people. I don’t want to be the only rich person in my circle. I want us ALL to be rich in money, relationships, and knowledge. We are stronger together…strong people build strong families, and strong families build strong communities!
So, that’s how I got that name and why I refer to everyone as my cousin. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned and my experiences with people who look like me and can relate to my story. When you hear me ranting or fussing just know its because I consider you family and I want the very best for us!
When is the last time someone in your biological family gave you some game that could change your life?
Regardless you have #CousinNita now!
Leave a comment and let me know if you’re a new or long time cousin and what city you’re in….you never know where I might pop up! 🙂
